Prices
We
understand the importance cost plays in your decision to hire double
space. Weve listed price ranges for our services, however,
almost every editing job is different, so prices vary. Remember
to check our Whats New page for current
discounts and promotions.
Price
ranges
We
will accommodate clients who prefer to negotiate a project fee or
use per word rates.
Factors
that affect pricing include
- level
of service required (For example: Do you need a light copyedit,
or copyediting and some structural work?)
- scope
of services
- stage,
duration and size of the project
- variables
such as formatting and inputting.

Submitting
material
You
can submit materials as e-mail attachments, which is perhaps the
easiest method, or you can mail us disk or hard copies. We accept
both 3.5" floppy and PC platform Zip® disks. Electronic
attachments should be in PC format.
Note: Normally, proofreading is performed on hard copy (printed
material). We will print a hard copy if you submit materials for
proofreading by e-mail or on disk, unless instructed otherwise.
Web sites: Using the URL of your published or beta Web site,
we can download the pages ourselves and no files need to be sent.
For unpublished source pages, attach HTML or other files to your
e-mail. If you have questions, contact us first.
Payment
Smaller
jobs are invoiced upon completion. Projects that run more than two
weeks are billed on a biweekly basis. We require an advance payment
for most large projects, and in some cases, first-time clients.
All invoices are due and payable upon receipt.
We accept payment by cheque or money order payable to double
space. In some circumstances a certified cheque may be required.
Clients from outside Canada pay in U.S. dollars. Send inquiries
about U.S. dollar rates or any other payment matters to info@doublespace.org
Terms
and conditions
- Our
fee will not exceed the estimated maximum unless the material
submissions and/or service requirements are altered from the specifications
in the initial order. We will notify you at the earliest possible
time of any such change.
- The
submission of materials is the responsibility of the client. Turnaround
times begin at the agreed upon time or upon receipt of all documents
from the client, whichever is later.
- If
a client withdraws or cancels a project at any stage, the client
must pay for all work completed to date.
